Tokyo, February 2001

Dear Joanie:
This letter has been long in coming, but maybe this is what will make it most especial, as it documents a longer period of time since I had the good luck to meet you.

Remember the first time I set foot in your office back May 1994? I had been in a car accident, and my back that had been aching for ten years since the birth of my last child had suffered the worst of the impact. By the time of the accident I had already figured out that my options were, to go to a medical doctor, and get a lot of medicines, possibly have to undergo some kind of surgery, or find an option. I had, ten years ealier gone to a Chiropractor in Texas, and had a bad experience, so much so, that the man scared himself and suggested that I stop all treatment. I really felt caught in a bad place, I did not have warm feeling towards chiropractic care, but what to do? I decided I would try calling Chiropractors in the Boulder area and trust my intuition. I spoke to you personally had a good feeling and went for a get acquainted visit.

As you know, after a year of treatment you had me in a place of no pain,  comfort inside of my body. This, was a good thing as the five year cycle that life seems to have me under was coming to an end and I was fixing to leave once again. This time to Paris, France. In Paris I put myself to work looking for someone that could keep me up "well, tuned" and I was unable to find anybody that would come close to you. When my five year French cycle came to an end, I found myself in Tokyo, Japan. Well, here, I told myself, where there is so much knowledge of the human body, I will find someone that can help me. Wrong.... No Joanie replacements! True that there are options, but I have found no one as good as you.

So, I am still looking. Been from Bolivia, and knowing what South America has to offer, having lived in different areas of the US and also having lived and traveled extensively throughout Europe and now Asia, I feel confident in saying that you are:

THE BEST CHIROPRACTOR IN THE WORLD at least, you have been so for me. In fact you have, been more than a Chiropractor, you have been a friend to my body. When my body was aching, as much due to real physical reasons, as from pains caused by all the adjustments I had to undergo, you were its friend, you would help it, when I just could not cope, and the pain would filter into my body, your knowing hands would allow it, to ease itself out of my system. You would honor the feeling that caused the pain and by doing so, would allow it to disperse itself out of my body.

I miss your treatments Dr. Joanie, but I guess I must make due with my yearly visits to your office, and appreciate them as little gems that will keep me moving on.

I resisted going to a chiropractor all of my adult life until one day I could no longer sit at my desk to work. A friend suggested a chiropractor and, since I was desperate, I made an appointment hoping for a miracle. Within one week of walking into Healing Touch Chiropractic I had experienced my miracle. I was pain free AND all of my allergy symptoms were gone (a bonus). Dr. DeBever recommended a 14 session treatment plan starting with 3 treatments a week, then 2 a week and finally once a week. Dear Dr Joanie,
I am writing to thank you for solving my ITB tendonitis mystery. I can’t believe that it took two doctors, several physical therapists, countless ultrasounds, and one to many cortisone shots before coming to you and discovering the root of my problem. It was with some trepidation that I came to you. I did not know what Chiropractic was and I was fairly certain it would not do much good. I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I could not run anymore. Fortunately my trepidation melted away as you explained exactly what was wrong and what you planned to do about it. Now after a few months of therapy I am back on the trails. I could not be happier. Thank you for discovering what all the others could not.
